Kaunolu Village

Kaunolu Village is located on the southern tip of Lanai. In the 1790’s it was a favorite spot of King Kamehameha I for fishing. He retreated here after conquering Molokai, Maui, and Lanai. There are many fascinating places and things to view when you take a trip here. Some include an amazing view of Shark Fin Cove and the southern sea cliffs. You will also have the chance to view the remaining parts of Halulu heiau (sacred temple of worship) and petroglyphs. View “Kehekili’s Leap” the spot where warriors dived off a 60-foot cliff in order to demonstrate their bravery. Many of these places in the Kaunulo Village are very sacred to the people of Lanai, so please remember to be respectful when you take your group there.
