Located on the north side of Oahu, the Polynesian Cultural Center is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Hawaii. Here, your group can learn about six different Polynesian cultures in a fun, theme-park-like environment.

As you journey through the park, each section is based on a different island culture of the Pacific. Your group can choose to explore these villages at your own pace, or in the company of a friendly and knowledgeable guide. Each area features interactive activities, cultural demonstrations, and games. You can learn about weaving, taro-growing, and the sacred laws of ancient Hawaii, then try out some hula moves. In Samoa, see how the natives scale 40-foot coconut palms, try your hand at fire starting, and sample some delicious Samoan cooking! Learn about the Maori warriors of New Zealand and see their war dance, then watch a woodcarving demonstration and try out some fun Aotearoan games. In Tonga, hear a drum show and learn to play Iafo – a game much like shuffleboard. Then head over to Fiji and check out their collection of weapons and six-story temple.  For a taste of some yummy coconut bread, visit the island of Tahiti, where you can also watch traditional dances, learn about different kinds of leis, and try your hand at spear-throwing!

Every afternoon, there is a canoe pageant where each of the island nations presents its colors, along with traditional dances and music, from the deck of a double-hulled canoe. Members of your group can take to the water themselves with a canoe race or a leisurely boat ride from one end of the park to the other. If you plan on staying until evening, don’t miss the spectacular show called “Ha,” meaning “Breath of Life” in Hawaiian. This production, filled with dancing and fire, is the perfect way to end your day at the Polynesian Cultural Center.
