Schlitterbahn Water Park and Resort in New Braunfels, TX is currently the largest in the country covering more than 70 acres in 2 sections and has been voted the #1 water park on the planet for 14 consecutive years. Originally opened in 1979, Schlitterbahn only started with 4 water slides. Stemming from the now iconic German style tower, these slides were built by the Henry family to accompany their river front resort called Landa Resort. Schlitterbahn, which means “Slippery Road” in German, was the pioneer in the water park resort concept that is now popular around the world.

Schlitterbahn Water Park utilizes the near-by spring fed, Comal River as its water source for all of its attractions in the original 41 acre “West” section. The water is then filtered, cleaned and returned to the river to maintain its pristine condition. A commitment to the environment was an important part of the Schlitterbahn concept long before it was in vogue.

The complex features more than 40 rides and family activates in six areas including two of the world’s first up-hill water coasters, the World’s longest tube ride, 17 water slides, 10 pools; 5 heated, body boarding ride, family friendly wave pools, seven children’s water playgrounds, water and sand volleyball courts and many more. Aside from the rides and activities area, there are 5 gift shops, a pizza arcade and more than 20 refreshment centers.

A new feature for 2012 is the exclusive “Treehaus Luxury Suites”. Guest of the Treehaus will enjoy awe inspiring treetop views of the award winning park and its beautiful river. Included with a stay at these upscale units that sleep up to 12 guests is admission to the park for everyone everyday of your stay.
Another new feature this year is the parks innovative “Transportainment” river that interconnects several attractions on the parks ever evolving east side. Visitors can float leisurely from attraction to attraction in the Tubenbach section of the park.
