USS Constitution

The USS Constitution is located in Boston, Massachusetts. The museum contains galleries with interesting exhibits. There are also tours and programs for students of all ages. The programs are educational and entertaining at the same time. Featured programs include the following: Brave Little Sailors, Community & Courage, Simple Machines & USS Constitution, History Tells a Story – the War of 1812, and Join the – Mess Life at Sea. During the Simple Machines & USS Constitution program, the student group will scour the galleries and look for evidence of simple machines. They will use their knowledge and see if there is a way to simplify the life of a 19th-century sailor. The following items will be used: the lever, inclined plane, a screw, the wedge, a pulley, and a wheel. The exhibits at the USS Constitution are fascinating. They include: All Hands on Deck: A Sailor’s Life in 1812, Old Ironsides in War and Peace, the Old Ironsides War of 1812 Discovery Center, and Constitution vs MS Java. The Old Ironsides War of 1812 Discovery Center displays games and interactive exhibits focusing on the War of 1812. The exhibits contain answers to questions about the war.
