The Museum of Arts & Science is a non-profit educational institution and the cultural centerpiece of Central Florida. Founded in 1955 and chartered by the state of Florida in 1962, it offers a variety of exhibits and attractions for families including hands on displays. One of the favorite attractions is the amazing 12 ft high 130,000 year old skeleton of a ground sloth that was excavated in 1975 in central Florida and is known as the best preserved and most complete fossil of this species in North America.

The museum is located in a 90 acre park preserve, where nature trails opened in the spring of 2005. In October 2001 the 24,000 square foot Root Wing opened and displays 20th century American culture and technological artifacts relating to the history of Coca-Cola and contains the largest public coca-cola memorabilia collection outside the company headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. Also you might enjoy the planetarium that seats 96 and features a night sky show, the children’s museum or the sculptured garden. Tsars Cabinet goes over two hundred years of Russian Decorative Art and the Romanovs and vintage photographs of Russia. Some of the other collections on exhibit include both Cuban and Florida art; American and European; fine and decorative art; pre-Columbian and African artifacts; Pleistocene fossils; Florida history; and regional natural history.
