William and Mary College

If you have students interested in looking at a college while you are on your trip to Williamsburg you should visit William and Mary College. Your students can take a variety of campus tours and attend a seminar. You may also want to watch a college ball game as part of the experience. There are student-led group tours and self-guided tours available for your student group. The student-led campus tours are for high school students only and the self-guided options are for students in grades prior to nine. The student-led tours are not offered on weekends. One of the self-guided options is the Campus Tour of Woody Species. During the experience, the group will have the opportunity to see a variety of sites on campus. You will see sites such as Phillips Garden, the Wildflower Refuge, the Thomas Jefferson statue, the Millington Greenhouse, and the Integrated Science Center. The Science Center contains the Biology Department and has several plants surrounding the area. It was constructed in 2008. William and Mary College was founded in 1693 and is the second oldest institution of higher learning in the United States. There have been several famous individuals who have attended this well-known university over a span of three centuries. Specifically, there have been four presidents, four signers of the Declaration of Independence, and four Supreme Court justices. Students can major in areas such as law, business, education, and marine science. Your student group will enjoy the view of the landscape and historic campus structures during the visit.
