Sacramento Railroad Museum

The California Railroad Museum was first opened in 1976 and is one of Sacramento’s largest visitor’s destination. It is very popular with over 500,000 visits annually. There are six buildings that are in the museum; some old, reconstructed, and new. The main exhibit building is a total of 100,000 square feet and was opened in May 1981.
This museum holds a total of 225,000 square feet worth of stimulating exhibits, locomotives for illustrating the railroad history, and much more. These exhibits help illustrate how the railroad has helped to make life more efficient for people’s lives and even the economy themselves. Many exhibits are interactive and allow your trip to witness how it felt to be part of the time when these railroads were first introduced.
This is not an attraction to miss when coming to Sacramento. There are great experiences available to groups of all ages including an actual ride on a train to get a better view of Sacramento while enjoying the feel of an old time train.
