While your student group is visiting Virginia Beach you may want to explore the Virginia Living Museum. There are fascinating exhibits for the students to explore as well as interesting planetarium shows. The group can also take a tour of the facility. There are a variety of tours and programs offered for your group to experience. They all use hands-on exhibits and interactive activities for students of all ages. One of the tour options is known as Survival Its Wild. During the experience, students will have the opportunity to meet some of the special live animals and learn about several topics. For example, you will learn about topics such as how the animals locate food and shelter, how they survive environment extremes, and avoid determined predators. Audience participation adds to the fun of this fascinating program. Another tour is known as the Chesapeake Bay Challenge which is where students will learn about the fascinating animals that live in the Chesapeake Bay. Specifically, students will be given information on topics such as habitats, the survival skills of the animals, and how the creatures are fed. The Virginia Living Museum contains several fascinating galleries and exhibits. For example, one of the indoor galleries is called Virginia’s Coastal Plain Gallery. Students will explore the “world’s richest nursery,” which is the Chesapeake Bay. The animals and habitats in the gallery characterize the eastern-most region of Virginia. Another gallery is known as Virginia’s World of Darkness which is where students can come eye to eye with some nocturnal creatures. For example, you will see pine voles, ghost crabs, jellyfish, tree frogs, lobster, and bats.
